The end of the road …for now
Today, the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee accepted Chicago, Tokyo, Madrid and Rio de Janeiro as Candidate Cities for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Unfortunately, Doha was not accepted as a Candidate City on this occasion.
The whole Doha 2016 team has felt extremely honoured to take part in this campaign and to have the opportunity to present our Bid to the Olympic Family.
While we are of course disappointed, we are also extremely proud that our Bid – the first-ever from the Arabic-speaking world – reached out to and inspired millions of people across the region.
